Q: What ages is the summer reading program for?

A: We have programs for all ages:

  • Babies and Toddlers: Birth through 2 years
  • Kids: 3 years through entering 5th grade
  • Teens: entering 6th grade through 12th
  • Adults: 18 and older, or graduated from high school

Q: When is the program?
A: Registration is May 31st - July 19th. The first prize is available June 3rd, and the last official day for drawings and prizes is July 26th. There will be a pool party July 26th for kids/teens who finish the program, with a pizza party before for teens.

Q: What do I need to do to participate?
A: It’s easy!

  • Sign up at the library starting May 31st and get a reading log.
  • Keep track of reading on your reading log. Instructions are on the front.
  • When you finish a row, get a stamp and a prize! (Adults: Enter the drawing when you read a book or attend a program)
  • Babies through teens can also enter a grand prize drawing once a day just for visiting the library!

Q: Do audiobooks count? Comic books? Being read to?
A: YES! We’re flexible, we just want you to enjoy reading this summer!

Q: How many prizes can I get at once?
A: Each week, one new prize will be available. You can get multiple prizes to catch up on past weeks, but you can’t go ahead.

Q: What else is going on at the library this summer?
A: A lot! Brochures and bookmarks are available at the library with listings of all events, or check our website and Facebook page.

Q: Can kids and teens volunteer for the summer reading program?
A: Yes! We need volunteers to help at the prize desk and at events!  As for a volunteer form at the front desk. Volunteers must be entering 2nd grade or older. We'll send an email with a link for you to sign up for which dates and times you would like to volunteer. You can also sign up for volunteering via our online form.
