School Updates

·       Carlisle Community School District – Grab and go lunch will start March 23rd and continue through the school shutdown.  Lunches are available from 11:30am – 1:00pm in the high school commons. Lunches are for CCSD students. One lunch per student and student must be present.

·       Indianola Community School District – Grab and go lunches will be available at five sites starting March 23rd.

·       I-35 Community School District – More information to come. The plan is for grab and go meals at local pick up points.

·       Martensdale – St Marys Community School District – Grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for students from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday through Friday, beginning March 23 at the central office. Parents will need to sign up ahead of time by contacting Karen Tomlinson: karen_tomlinson@mstm.us  Our community food pantry will be open during the same times for anyone in need. 

·       Norwalk Community School District – Drive through/walk to pick up lunches will start March 23rd. Lunches will be available from 11:30am – 12:30pm at Lakewood Elementary Parking lot & Norwalk City Park.  Children must be present, and you will be given a number of meals based upon the number of children in the car ages 1-18.

·       Southeast Warren County School District – Southeast Warren can apply through USDA to provide meals for students by drive-through, grab-and-go or other methods during school closures related to the COVID19 outbreak. These meals would be charged to lunch accounts using current eligibility status (free/reduced/full price). Please email luann.ohnemus@se-warren.k12.ia.us if you are interested in receiving meals via this USDA program by FRIDAY March 20th so we can determine if we should apply for this program.



·       Child Care Centers and Homes are currently encouraged to stay open if possible. Warren County Health Services will keep Child Care Centers and Homes updated if these recommendations change. We have heard that some Child Care Providers have closed recently which may have impacted your employees. If you know of an employee in need of childcare, please pass on this information:

Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) is a program to support quality childcare throughout the state of Iowa. CCR&R is available to assist families in selecting childcare providers who best meet the needs of a child and their family. Child Care Consultants provide on-site consultation to licensed preschools, centers, nonregistered home providers and Child Development Home providers is keeping close track of current openings, closures and availability for certain age groups. ·      Clinics are not testing individuals for COVID-19 here in Warren County. The clinics has a process to determine if testing is warranted and will send the patient to a testing location in Des Moines.

·      The private labs that did have testing available were overwhelmed and are not accepting test right now. SHL is still providing testing.
